Q: Can it be switched on & off by the transmitter, I can't see any input plug.

Bliston If you connect an auxiliary channel that is controlled by a three-way switch on your transmitter, there are three flight modes available. One of the modes bypasses the gyro function (effectively turning it off) putting you back in full manual control. This is in the instructions above.
