I found this item easy enough to assemble and versatile with jumpered options for low light / high light and relay operational or not.. The onboard preset pot contols sensitivity BUT it would have been nice to have a delay control preset pot, etc included with the circuit but alas not. Pictures as follows:- Assembled PCB and Light Blocked Off - causing led to illuminate with item configured to switch on during low light.

The kit should be assembled using the assy instructions available from the Bangood website EXCEPT Step 4, which should be carried out in accordance with photo 1 ie S1 fitted rotated through 180 degrees for fitting, with respect to Bangood instructions for Step 4. Once the assembly and checking for (plus rectifying if necessary) any solder bridges. then the user can proceed with powering up when the USB A plug to DC plug is connected appropriately and S1 ( PAUSE) is in the off position. Press S2 in and LED D60 illuminates (see photo 2). Press the START button and LED D1 followed by D2, then D3 etc sequentially illuminate (see photo3). Whilst this is happening press S1 (PAUSE) in and the display will be held with one of the LEDs on the ring illuminated, plus LED D61 will flash at1Hz (see photo 4). Depress S1 (PAUSE) and the count will continue with LED D61 no longer flashing (see photo 5). Pressing the STOP button whilst the device is counting or paused resets it to the starting position (see photo 1) -so it should be called a RESET button and the device should be called " A 60 Second Count-Up Timer" as the count is clockwise from LED D1 to LED D60. If allowed to complete a full count from LED D1 to LED D60 an alarm sounds for a few seconds after D60 is reached and then the sound disappears D60 remaining illuminated until powered off or the count is restarted.

TonyAlbus 5Kon the lower frequencies upto 120K on the higher frequencies.. Resolution Band Whit .. how precise or smallest scan step..

I made my kit up with the following changes:- R1 changed to 10K, VR1 changed to 100K - these two changes give a wider "speed range" for the sequencer. Also changed the LEDs as follows:- D1, D6 = Blue; D2, D7 = Green; D3, D8 = Yellow; D4,D9 = Red & D5 ,D10 = White to give a more colorful display. - I finf the use of red leds only rather boring!!! I also glued the assembled pcb to to a switched 2 xAA cell battery box too. Easy to make works every time

Takes some care to assemble but works well once constructed. Check your components carefully before beginning was given some 8.2k resistors instead of 82k. The range of detection is rather limited and the assembled item .shows IR detection on initial power-up. Otherwise fine except it would be nice to have the relay available to switch the mains directly.

Q: Have you considered supplying a true count-down time which in addition to having an LED illuminate would make a beep every time the diode being illuminated changes? The direction of travel would be from D60 - D1 and the pitch of the beep would increase in frequency, say every ten seconds and the alarm would sound when the countdown reached D1. The button marked STOP would be renamed RESET. This would be a true countdown timer liked those used on European TV Game Shows and would be popular where the price right. Could be 40pin PIC-based? with an onboard socket for the pre-programmed PIC. IC

Q: Is a sound only supposed to be produced at the end of the countdown that being an alarm sound? I have built 2 out of 3 so far. 1 seems to work, 1 doesn't and because I am struggling to understand how it works, I am struggling to fault-find.

I received this item and was very happy unril I connected this to my mutimeter when i discovered an intermittent connection on the postive test lead. On talking to colleagues one mentioned he had the same problem with some of these from youselves and fixed iby identifying the end with the intermittent fault and rmoving the insulation with a sharp knife, soldering the lead to the termimal and insulating with insulation tape. I did the same and problem solved. Obviously only 3 stars beacuase of the product quality issue. Mike

A very nice effect when built and working. However 4 points ( 1) the speed adjustment with the components supplied VR1 (10K) and R21 (10K) leaves a little to be desired. If you construct this I would recomend cahning VR1 to 20 or even 50K and R21 to 4K7. ( 2 ) 2 LEDS would not illuminate even when changed being D31 and D63, all others worked fine. ( 3 ) your instructions are flawed - for the kit supplied the centre diode is marked D44 which means the LED #s on your schematic are wrong and the quantities of 200R and 1K resistors supplied and required are the same. ( 4) The on-off switch on the kit supplied on switches the connection from the DC socket and not that at Vcc and Gnd.

This item is easy enough to construct - just take care when placing and soldering the LEDs on the board. It requires 9 -12 volt according to the info i've obtained but works best with 12 volts - A really spectacular display!!!!. Pictures are - all blue leds on , all red leds on & a close-up or the assembled pcb.
