Burt This is normal it is due to light property the color black absorb the full light spectrum as the white reflect the full spectrum. as an experiment on a sunny day take a magnifying glass and a white peace of paper draw a black felt line on the paper focus sun ray with the lens and as you move the focused sun ray over the black line you will see that the white part is not affected or it will take longer to burn and the black mark will instantly burn.

burns and cuts through on black paper very well. takes time on other colored surfaces, but does not even make a mark on white paper.
