Q: Is this model now compatible with CHIRP programming?

getoutside Past Baofeng models like UV-5R and F8HP work fine with CHIRP as long as you get the cable separately (Mirkit or other legal ones, the Baofeng cable locked up when connecting with MS Windows). And the physical connector looks identical, so almost certainly you can use CHIRP software. I think you download the blank from the radio, edit it, then upload it, it takes maybe 15-20 seconds depending on data. CHIRP is free and much easier than navigating the internal programming menu, that is more useful for changing individual operation settings.

getoutside You can not use the Baofeng cable, I learned this lesson the hard way with the UV-5R. If you connect it to a Microsoft Windows computer, it will recognize a pirated software in the cable and stop communicating. You can buy a Mirkit cable I think online for around USD $16 or so, and your communication problem will go away.

getoutside Unlikely, or they would probably illustrate two in the photos. People usually refer to a pair of glasses like a pair of pants, it means a single unit (with two significant parts).
