Hi, I am a professional auto electrician. based in Perth Western Australia. I purchased this item to upgrade the original rectifier on a Triumph Speed Triple motor cycle for a customer. This unit worked well, regulating at 14 volts. within minutes, I noticed it getting extremely hot, too hot to even touch. Within ten minutes it stopped working. After testing, it has now permanently shorted out two of the tree phase input wires. this regulator is now buggered. It lasted no more than 5 - 6 minutes at idle.. It clearly can not sink the high amps this thing needs to shunt. I was measuring 18 amps at each phase. in it's shorted state. 18 *3 = 54 Amps. the big battery is fully charged, driving twin headlights as well as powering ECU.. I was extremely excited in this purchase, now I'm off to but the original shindengen.
