Input : 12V 5A from a good switching PSU (also tested with a lab power supply) Output : Raspberry Pi 3 (5V 2A) Max current set to maximal value but the Raspberry kept getting in "Brown Out Alert" mode. Replaced in same setting by another module rated for 3A (this one : http://www.banggood.com/LM2596-DC-DC-Verstellbar-Step-Down-Schaltregler-Power-Supply-Module-p-88252.html?rmmds=search) and no more Brown Out. The module had plenty of margin for the current (rated 10A max, 5A constant and 8A in the title) but it failed where another module rated 3A did the job. Minor issues : terminals are "inverted" (when input left and output right, V- is on top and V+ at bottom), screws very close to heatsink (and difficult to reach) Better have both step up and step down modules available and use the one needed.
